“Home Economics” is an investigation of Chicago’s apartment gallery culture and lifestyle. The collaborate, AndrewandAndrea, highlight the importance of apartment galleries as sites of building and sustaining networks and contestation — the broad economic consequences that operate within these social spaces.
The duo have been actively participating and documenting the numerous apartment galleries all over Chicago. Photographs taken at such venues reflect the scene at mini dutch’s opening.
Their works deal with the visual culture of late capitalism in its often most banal or discreet forms. Through their multidisciplinary practice, they expose both the ideological and social constructs inherent within these systems of representation.
